I recently spent a delightful afternoon browsing at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on the USC campus and did a Hannah Kline book signing at the Sisters in Crime booth at the fair. I joined Sisters in Crime about a year ago and have met many interesting and talented mystery writers to add to my list of authors to read. With so many independent bookstores going out of business, and people doing so much of their book shopping as online downloads, it was truly gratifying to see large crowds of people in search of their next great read, and anxious to hear from their favorite authors. Publishing seems to be alive and well in Los Angeles.
